FJWU to be country's leading university: VC
RAWALPINDI, March 19(APP): The newly appointed vice chancellor of Fatima Jinnah
Women University (FJWU), Professor Dr Saeeda Asadullah Khan, said that she would
strive to make the FJWU one of the best education institutions in the country.
The vice chancellor said that no country could progress without women's
active participation in all walks of life. She said the university had been
playing an important role in imparting quality education to women while keeping
with Pakistani culture and tradition. The university boosts students' confidence
and teaches them practical skills that are necessary for competing in practical
life, she said.
Saeeda said the university was focusing on inculcating a
research culture as the academic excellence of any educational institution was
judged by the publication of research papers. Saeeda earned a PhD in English
from the Bowing Green State University, Ohio, USA, in 1982 and obtained her
masters degree in English and American Literature from the Edinboro State
College, Pennsylvania, in 1977. She has command of six languages, including
French, Arabic and Turkish, and she was appointed the FJWU's vice-chancellor
earlier this week.
Presently, over 3,000 students are enrolled with the
university for graduate and post-graduate studies.
