HEC launches CALL course at BZU
Islamabad, March 13(The Nation)–The
Higher Education Commission HEC, Islamabad Monday launched Computer Assisted
Language Learning (CALL) short course, under its English Language Teaching
Reforms (ELTR) Project, at BZU, Multan. According to a press release issued here
by the commission, the six-day short course will continue till March 17.
The
short course has already been conducted for the university/college teachers of
Islamabad and Lahore.
After completion of the said course in Multan, the
commission will arrange similar courses at Karachi and Peshawar as well.
The
commission offered 25 fellowships to the English faculty of higher education
institutions for a six days / 36 hrs duration CALL short-term training program.
Teachers from various universities/government colleges are attending the
workshop.
The workshop focuses on the professional development of English
Language teachers with particular reference to the use of technology in language
teaching.
Innovations in the field of learning have made it a must for the
teachers that they equip themselves with the IT skills and use it in their
classrooms.
This has become one of the newest strategies to support language
learning. After the course, the participants will be able to incorporate latest
IT skills in English language teaching.
