German speech contest at NUML
ISLAMABAD, March 15 (The Nation)- Dr Gunter Mulack, Ambassador of Germany, underlined the importance of learning
languages as they open new windows to the world. He said this in his concluding
remarks at the German speech contest held at the National University of Modern
Languages here on Wednesday.
Dr Gunter Mulack further said that language, in
fact, was the only effective medium, which plays a key role in creating better
understanding among the people the world over. Eulogising the standard of
the speeches made by the students in German language and remarked that it was,
indeed, a good achievement on the part of the university.
Welcoming Dr Gunter
Mulack, Prof Dr Aziz Ahmad Khan, Rector, said that the German Department was one
of the pioneer departments of the university where 24 national and foreign
languages are taught. During his speech, the Rector requested the German envoy
to facilitate in establishing linkage between NUML and any of the German
universities.
Eight students participated in the German speech competition.
In group one Major Asadullah, Ms Hafsa Bano and Major Akhtar Subhani were
adjudged first, second and third respectively while in group two Ms Farwa Tariq,
Ms Samra Aziz and Major Waheed were placed in first, second and third position
respectively. Before the prize distribution, the students sang a German song.
