250 new schools to open from Sept 1
RAWALPINDI, March 12(Daily Times): Two hundred and fifty newly constructed educational
institutions will begin functioning from September 1. The government schools
were constructed in collaboration with the Rawalpindi Literacy Department to
achieve 100 percent literacy rate. 'Education for all' Programme Director Ijaz
Ahmad Shah said that initially, the institutions would be opened in ten
Rawalpindi union councils to impart education to working adults and children who
had no money for education. He said that books and stationary would also be
provided free of cost.
1,206 teachers to be recruited: Punjab Chief
Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has approved the recruitment of 1,206 senior and
junior teachers to fulfill vacancies in schools throughout Punjab. According to
an official notification, around 350 men and 300 women officers of BPS-18, and
286 men and 270 women officers of BPS-17 will be recruited on merit for a
five-year term on contract basis through the Punjab Public Service Commission.
The deadline for submitting applications is today (Monday).
