RISALPUR, March 15 (Daily Times): Despite its small size, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is
destined to play a vital role in Pakistan's defence, said Naval Staff Chief
Admiral Muhammad Fazal Tapir on Wednesday.
"Besides safeguarding the
nation's airspace, it also has the responsibility to support the Pakistan Army
and navy in war," he said, while speaking at the graduation parade of the 118th
GD (P) Course and 62nd Engineering Course at the PAF Academy.
He said
that the PAF Academy was playing a "commendable" role in imparting quality
training to cadets. "PAF has tremendous operational flexibility and serves its
duties from the high mountain peaks in the north to the deep blue seas in the
south," he said.
After reviewing the parade, the chief guest awarded
trophies and swords of honour among the graduates. The trophy for best
performance in General Service Training was given to Wing Under Officer Sohail
Barbie, the Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for best performance in flying was
awarded to Cadet Bill Raze. The sword of honour for overall best performance in
the course was awarded to Squadron Under Officer Kurram Ihram.

Chiefs of Staff Committee Trophy for best performance in General Service
Training and the sword of honour for best all round performance in the 62
Engineering Course were awarded to Senior Cadet Group Under Officer Sohail Ahmed
Rio, while Chief of Air Staff Trophy for best performance in engineering was
given to Senior Cadet Samna Ahmed. The chief guest also awarded the Quaid-e-Azam
Banner to No 4 Squadron.
