PU expels IJT member and suspends two
LAHORE, March 16(Daily Times): The Punjab University on Wednesday expelled Imran Saeed
Kiyani, an activist of the Islami Jamiat Talaba, and suspended Aminullah and
Muzahir Hussain for a semester for detaining and beating up a group of students
who participated in the performing arts activities last month. The PU also fined and served a warning to Mustansar Irshad, an MCS
student and Ahsan Zaman, Nabeel Wali and Farhan Ahmed, students of bachelor's in
information technology at the Punjab University College of Information
Technology (PUCIT), for supporting the IJT activists.
A senior PU professor said
a group of students from the PUCIT was rehearsing a play when IJT members Imran
Saeed Kiyani, Aminullah and Muzahir Hussain beat them up. The professor said the
play Pakistan in the Mirror of its Cultural History was a joint production of
the students of the PU College of Arts and Design (CAD) and the PUCIT and was to
be staged before President Pervez Mushrraf and his wife at Alhamra.
