HEC approves housing project for PU
LAHORE, Mar 1(Daily Times): The Higher Education Commission
(HEC) on Wednesday approved a housing project for the Punjab University (PU)
staff at a cost of Rs 99.74 million, according to a press statement.
A
20-room hostel for bachelors and 34 new residential houses will be constructed.
PU VC Arshad Mahmood has directed project director Sheikh Muhammad Ali and
planning and development director Azhar Naeem to prepare a master plan.
PUCP scholarships: The Punjab University's College of Pharmacy (PUCP) on
Wednesday distributed Rs 400,000 among the needy and talented students. The
money was donated by the High Noon Laboratories Group. High Noon Laboratories
Group chief has announced five gold medals for MPhil and one for D Pharmacy
students.
PU holds conference: The Punjab University's annual review and
audit conference of teaching departments was held on New Campus on Wednesday.
PU VC Arshad Mehmood chaired the session. The heads and representatives
of teaching departments presented reports on their academic and research
activities, future plans and suggestions to improve educational standards. The
VC directed the chairmen of the departments to start research journals. He also
directed them to get help from scientists to train students.
Prof Khan
donates books to HCBF: Prof Ishaq Khan, a visiting professor of the Hailey
College of Banking and Finance (HCBF), on Wednesday donated 105 books to the
college library. HCBF principal Khawaja Amjad Saeed thanked him and hoped that
the books would be a great contribution to the college library.

registrations start today: Registration of private candidates for appearing in
BA/BSc annual examinations 2008 will start from March 1 (today). It will
continue till June 30.
