Pakistani, UK schools set to compete
LAHORE, Mar 1(Daily Times): The British Council Pakistan has launched a competition
for schools of the country linked with UK schools under its School Links
programme, projects manager Haroon Raheem said on Wednesday.
He said that Pakistani schools that have been partnered with UK schools
in the school links programme for at least six months would compete with one
another.
Raheem said that prizes for the competition included a computer,
a digital camera and Rs 10,000 worth of library books for the first, second and
third position holders, respectively. The British Council School Link Programme
national manager Nadia Kamran said that 190 Pakistani schools have been linked
with schools in the UK. Out of these 49 are from Lahore.
Nadia Kamran
added that the linkage programme offered students the opportunity to interact
with their peers in the UK. She further said that the programme was also helpful
for teachers as it provided an opportunity of professional development through
sharing test practices, teaching resources and helped develop the curricula with
an international perspective. This helps children in both countries learn about
each other's culture and beliefs, she concluded.
