PMA announces proficiency evaluation test results
KARACHI, March 13(Dawn): The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has announced
the results of its Proficiency Evaluation Test (PET) 2006, which was taken by
1,216 students of 14 medical colleges in 11 different cities.
According
to PMA's central secretary, Dr Habibur Rehman Soomro, two students of the
People's Medical College, Nawabshah, Khalida Parveen and Fatima Rizvi secured
first and second positions respectively, while Mehreen Shamim of the Dow
University of Health Sciences and Raja Gurdutt of Chandka Medical College,
Larkana, got third positions in the test.
A prize distribution ceremony
will be held in Karachi soon, Dr Soomro added.
Meanwhile, the PMA has
also expressed concern over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Pakistan,
Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, saying that the worst show of power had been
unleashed against the judiciary in particular.
The medical profession has
also seen and appreciated his suo motu action taken against the illegal trade of
kidney in the country, said a press release of the association on Monday.
