Edu Dept to provide free text books, stipends
KARACHI, March 19(The News): Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has said that like the
previous year, the provincial Education Department would provide free textbooks,
scholarships and monthly stipends to the students of government schools. Talking
to different delegations at her office on Sunday, the minister said that special
attention was being paid towards the improvement of schools in rural areas
across the province because the education facilities in these areas were dismal
as compared to the urban areas.
Dr Hamida Khuhro said that Education Department
had computerized all the record of students and teachers and now this record
could be checked by just pressing a computer key. She said that Sindh was the
only province where free dictionaries were distributed among the school
students. Besides, action was being taken against the absentee teachers, she
added.
