PPSC examination | Punjab matric exam UMCs

84 candidates pass PPSC examination
Lahore, May 20, 2008: The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has declared the following 84 candidates successful in the written examination of civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates held from March 3 to March 10. According to a notice issued on Monday, about 1,350 candidates had sat the examination for 106 posts. Five seats are reserved for women and one for a physically challenged person. The following candidates have qualified for an interview.

191 unfair means cases detected during matric exam
Lahore: ALL the eight boards of intermediate and secondary education of Punjab detected 191 unfair means cases (UMCs) during the recently held matriculation annual examination (composite), 2008.

The highest number of the UMCs, 111, was registered by the Faisalabad board. According to the data obtained by The News, 21 cases of imposter were registered while maximum cases, six, in this category were detected by the BISE, Faisalabad.

The BISE, Multan, registered 20 UMCs and three cases of imposter. The BISE, Bahawalpur, detected 19 UMCs and five imposter cases, BISE, Dera Ghazi Khan, 10 UMCs and one imposter case, Lahore 10 UMCs and two imposter cases, Gujranwala nine and two, Sargodha eight and two while only four UMCs were detected by the BISE, Rawalpindi. The annual matriculation (composite) examination, 2008, was held from April 8 to Apr 25. In the class 9th Annual Examination, 2008, held from April 26 to May 12, the boards detected 38 UMCs and two cases of imposter.

Ten UMCs were reported at the BISE, Gujranwala, eight at BISE, DG Khan, six at Faisalabad, five at Bahawalpur, five UMCs with one case of imposter at Multan, one UMC and one case of imposter at Lahore and three UMCs at BISE, Sargodha. No UMC or imposter case was registered by the BISE, Rawalpindi.

During the Matriculation Annual Examination, 2007, 119 UMCs and 16 case of imposter were detected by the eight examination boards. Sources in the Punjab Higher Education Department said that the data regarding conduct of examination had been sent to the Punjab chief minister. He said the boards had also been directed to ensure strict vigilance during the on going Intermediate Annual Examination, 2008.

When contacted, additional secretary (Academic) of the Punjab Higher Education Department, Maqsood Mumtaz, who is also convener of examination monitoring cell, confirming the data, said the detection of cheating cases was result of improved vigilance and monitoring system.

He said special monitoring and vigilance teams had been constituted, besides establishment of a monitoring cell, to ensure proper vigilance of examination held simultaneously in Punjab.Maqsood Mumtaz said that no law and order case was detected in both the exams from across the province. The News
