BIEK announced HSC exam forms new date
'HSC exam forms can be filed only on 18th'
Karachi, May 11: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has
fixed May 18 as the final and only date for submission of examination
forms for the Higher Secondary School Certificate, Part-I and Part-II
(Humanities and Commerce) annual examinations-2010, which are
commencing on June 1, simultaneously. Announcing this at a
news conference held here on Monday, BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai
urged all the candidates who had not submitted their forms to avail
themselves of this last opportunity to save their academic year. He said that the board had taken a firm stand that no examination form would be accepted after May 18.
According to him, both the regular and private students of Class XI and
XII, belonging to the Humanities and Commerce groups, could submit
their examination forms at the BIEK offices on May 18 from 10am to 8pm.
The BIEK had already started issuing admit cards of regular
candidates to the representatives of their respective colleges while
the admit cards of private candidates were being dispatched to their
addresses mentioned in their examination forms, he said. If
any candidate belonging to the Humanities group, including those who
would be submitting their examination forms on May 18, did not get
their admit cards by May 23, they might collect them on May 24 and May
25 and the commerce group candidates could get the cards on May 26 and
May 27 from the board office. Giving details of the
forthcoming HSC (Humanities and Commerce) groups' annual examinations,
Prof Zai said that though the exams for both the groups would begin on
June 1 simultaneously, the Humanities group examinations would be held
in the morning shift (from 9.30am to 12.30pm) while the Commerce
group's exams would be held in the afternoon shift (from 2.30pm to
5.30pm). The BIEK, with a view to conducting the exams in an
orderly and transparent manner, had set up 60 vigilance teams for a
total of 120 examination centres and, as such, each team comprising two
senior college teachers would be required to visit only two centres on
each day of the exams, he said. In addition to the 60
vigilance teams, a super vigilance committee comprising the BIEK
chairman, the director-general (Colleges) of Sindh, the director of
inspection, the BIEK secretary, two deputy secretaries and one deputy
controller of examinations had also been formed to carry out surprise
visits to examination centres and take on-the-spot decisions relating
to cheating, use of unfair means and impersonation cases, he added.

BSEK mulling over new system
Karachi: Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BSEK) Chairman Prof
Anwar Ahmed Zai has said that the Inter Board Chairmen Committee (IBCC)
is contemplating display of seat numbers on the examination papers to
end unfair means of the cheating mafia in examinations. He said
that the second phase of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC)
part-I & II annual examinations for the candidates of Arts and
Commerce would start from June 1st, 2010, while the last date for
submission of examination forms for the intermediate regular and
private candidates of Arts and Commerce is May 18. He was speaking
at a press conference here at BSEK office on Monday. BSEK Secretary
Haider Naveen, Controller Examinations Agha Mirza Akber and Deputy
Secretary Imran Chishti were also present on the occasion. Prof
Zai said that the board administration was trying to eliminate copy
culture from the city, while this year during the examinations the
situation was remained under control. "To get control over the
activities of the examination mafia the board did not setup any new
examination centre for those candidates who submitted their examination
forms at the eleventh hour. This was the practice at the board to
setup examination centre in the nick of time; examination mafia was
used to take benefit from this practice. A few days back, BSEK
received nearly 8,500 examination forms on the last date but all the
candidates were placed in the already setup examination centres across
the city. However, May 18th is the last date for the submission of
examination forms for candidates of Arts and Commerce, while new
examination centre will not be setup so that the activities of the
examination mafia could be discouraged," he said. Admission cards
to candidates of Arts faculty will be sent during May 24 to 25, while
candidates of commerce faculty will receive their admission cards
during May 26 to 27, he said and added that the intermediate
examinations of Arts and Commerce will be held in two shifts. He
added that candidates of Arts faculty will take exam in the first shift
(Morning), while papers of commerce will be taken during second shift
(Evening). Talking about the examination papers, Prof Zai said
that IBCC was estimating the cost that could be spent in the project to
display seat numbers on the examination papers to an eye on the
activities of the examination mafia. The nation
