IJT protests against PU VC
LAHORE, May 11(Daily Times): About two dozen Punjab University (PU) students affiliated
with the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) on Thursday protested against PU vice
chancellor Arshad Mahmood, alleging that he was responsible for declining
standards of PhD and MPhil research at the university.
According to a press
release, the IJT activists protested outside the Higher Education Commission
(HEC) regional office in Gulberg. They carried banners, placards and chanted
slogans against the vice chancellor (VC), demanding his removal from office. The
students also alleged that PhD scholars were facing problems availing boarding
facilities whereas millions of rupees had been spent on the renovation of VC
House. They also alleged that there was a boutique in the VC House at which more
than 50 women were working.
