KU website becoming tech savvy
Karachi, May 17(The News): In the past, those searching the internet for a professional-looking website of
the University of Karachi (KU) used to be disappointed.
Not only was it
was unimpressive, it had little or outdated information. But not anymore.
The premier academic institution now has a new website -
http://www.uok.edu.pk/ - where visitors may find the latest information relating
to the university, including closings, openings, exams, etc. The webmaster tries
to post the latest information as soon as it is available. For most recent
postings, just click on "UoK News" on the homepage.
Zain Abbas,
webmaster of the university server, said that KU established a Main
Communication Network (MCN) that was developing the entire network on the
campus. The MCN office was working round the clock to keep the website updated.
"The latest information about the holding of semester examinations as
per schedule on May 17, Thursday, is posted on the web. The changes in the
B.D.S. Professional examination have also been posted and concerned students and
parents can visit the site to know about it," said Zain.
The new website
features a wealth of information about the university, including a dazzling
array of pictures of important events.
One of the best things about the
website is that it is interactive. Also, if you're looking for information on
admissions, faculties, departments or research institutes, don't worry. They
will be just a click away.
The next thing the university needs to do now
is publicise the website's existence among the faculty, students, alumni and the
general public through announcements, billboards or newspaper Ads. An up-to-date
website will put students, teachers and those interested in any information
regarding the university at ease and remove uncertainty about exams or their
cancellations.
