Bogus admissions in Liaquat Medical University
JAMSHORO, May 31(The News): The newly appointed vice chancellor of the Liaquat Medical University
of Health Sciences (LUMHS) Dr Noshad Ahmed Shaikh has confirmed that
an inquiry committee has been set up to probe cases of bogus admissions in the
LUMHS.
He also confirmed that Director Admissions has received a
show-cause notice. The notice followed complaints that 72 admissions in the
department of MBBS and BDS have been found 'extra' and
'out-of-provision'.
Sources disclosed that such admissions were made
against a huge bribe and at least 34 extra admissions were made in the
department of MBBS while 42 'out-of-provision' admissions were made in the
department of BDS of LUMHS. However, so far no reply was made by director
admissions against the show-cause notice.
The vice chancellor said for
quality education within the university, a college status of the LUMHS is being
established, where a seat of principal of Liaquat Medical College is also being
created.
