NTS to give all entry tests in universities: gov
MULTAN, May 21(Daily Times): Punjab Governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool said on Saturday
that a National Testing Service would soon replace the entry tests for
admissions in medical colleges and engineering universities.
In a meeting
with reporters at the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), he said the
initiative was meant to enhance credibility of the test process.He said that
semester system would also be introduced at college levels.
He said Rs 5
billion would be invested for the development of colleges in Punjab, adding that
initially around six colleges would be selected for this purpose with the
formation of their Board of Managements (BoMs).
He said nine universities
of international standards would be established in the country, including an
engineering and a women's university in Multan.
He said Rs 3 billion had
been spent on Bahauddin Zakariya University's (BZU) development, adding that the
projects worth Rs 950 million had either been completed or were near
completion.
The governor said another Rs 1 billion grant for development
projects had been committed, while Rs 1.1 billion more funding was promised for
future projects.
