1,700 primary teachers await promotions
KARACHI, May 7(PPI) - Despite setting
up a high-level committee by Sindh Education Secretary Sabhago Khan Jatoi for
promotion of over 1,700 primary school teachers, no progress has been made so
far.
According to sources in the education department, a
committee was constituted in mid April to review promotion of primary teachers
from their present grade of BPS-9 to BPS-14. The committee, headed by Education
Secretary Sabhago Khan himself, had to sort out and submit its recommendation
within a week, but the matter was yet to solved.
It may be recalled that the
matter of primary school teachers' promotion had been pending for long time and
there was resentment among the teachers due to the inaction by the authorities
in this regard.
The sources said the committee might take another month to
submit its report for promotion of primary teachers to BPS-14. Recently, a
delegation of primary school teachers led by Muneer Ahmed Bhatti also called on
Minister for Education Dr Hamida Khuhro and requested her to take notice of
their delayed promotions.
