Teachers on boycott from 16th to 23rd
LAHORE, May 15(Daily Times): The Muttahida Mahaz Asataza on Friday announced boycotting
schools in the province from May 16 to 23 because the government did not
consider their demands of issuing a notification on teachers' allowances,
denationalising government schools and the change in the academic session.
Mahaz
chairman Hafiz Abdul Nasir chaired the meeting, saying the change in the
academic session was a conspiracy against government schools. He said private
schools were allowed to start admissions whenever they wanted. Participants of
the meeting said denationalising government schools would make education too
expensive for the common man. They said the government should consult teachers'
associations before planning changes in education.
