Academic session at BMU begins
Karachi, Nov 14, 2007: The new academic session of different batches including the 21st batch of MBBS, 18th batch of BDS, 13th batch of Pharm D and 16th batch of MPH, has begun at the Baqai Medical University (BMU) on Tuesday.
The university organised a ceremony in the honour of its new students at the Saeeda Auditorium. President, College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan, Prof. Dr Zafarullah Chaudhary, was the chief guest of the function.
Addressing the occasion, Chaudhry said, "You have selected a professional education, which requires extra efforts and concentration. Once you will have graduated, the doors of post graduations will be opened. You will have a choice to select specialisation fields of your choice." He informed that the CPSP and Higher Education Commission are helping in this regard.
The chancellor of BMU, Prof. Fareeduddin Baqai, stated his institutions were delivering education and producing trained manpower to meet present day national requirements. "We are leaders in some
disciplines such as pharmacy, and public health management." Baqai informed that the their university had also inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and King's College London, for postgraduate education in surgery and dental specialisation while studying in Pakistan.
The government's regulatory agencies allow us a specific number of seats every year, though we can accommodate more candidates easily. Earlier, the vice chancellor of BMU, Prof. Lt. Gen (retd) Syed Azhar Ahmed, welcomed the students and their parents. Prof. Zahida Baqai, Pro Vice Chancellor, BMU presented the university's memento to the chief guest on the occasion. The News
