DUHS increases postgraduates stipends
Karachi, Nov 01, 2007: Vice Chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS)
Prof Masood Hameed Khan on Wednesday clarifying his position on stipend of
postgraduate students said that few months back the Sindh government had decided
to increase the monthly stipend of postgraduates from Rs6,000 to Rs10,000
whereas the VC himself decided to give monthly stipend of Rs12,000 provided the
postgraduates submit an affidavit for not working in private hospitals or
clinics and focus on their studies and delegated duties.
"In case of
violation, action would be taken against them," he said.
He said
accordingly the increased stipend of postgraduates, who have completed their
documents and affidavits, have already been released by the DUHS from the annual
recurring grant although the finance department of the Sindh government has not
released funds of this category until now.
He said those postgraduates
who have not completed required documents are directed to do so at the earliest
so that their increased stipend may also be released. The News
