All degree exams for boys to be held at KU
Karachi, Nov 04, 2007: It has been decided that all degree examinations of BA/BSc to be
held on December 7, 2007 and January 8, 2008 for boys will be held at the
University of Karachi Campus.
The girls of BA/BSc classes with a total
number of 55,000 will be held at different colleges in the city.
The
22,000 students of BCom with a total strength of 14,000 boys and 8,000 girls
will be held at 30 colleges in the city.
Decision in this regard was
taken at a meeting held on October 31 at the office of Pro-Vice Chancellor
Karachi, Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, to finalise the proposal to conduct BA/BSc/BCom
Examinations 2007 in the nearby selected colleges of the city.
This year
in these degree examinations of 2007 students appearing will be around
92,000.
The pro-vice chancellor in his letter had stated that previously
all the regular and private examinations were conducted in the degree colleges,
but because of the law and order situation the examination centres were moved to
the university campus.
The pro-vice chancellor observed that the conduct
of examinations at the University of Karachi is now creating serious problems
(eg shortage of class rooms, invigilation staff, centre superintendents and
supporting staff.
The university has started additional four years BS
programme for this year besides the regular and evening teaching programme,
because of which we are facing acute shortage of space.
The University of
Karachi has been conducting examinations of BA/BSc, BCom regular and external
students for the last several years. The News
