Engineering Robotics Contest 2007

Nov 05, 2007: The 4th National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC), 2007 was organised by STEM Project HEC and NUST at the college of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (E&ME), Rawalpindi, on October 27.

Forty-eight teams participated in the competition. However, only 18 teams qualified for the final round. The competition had two categories consisting of 12 leagues of Lego robots that were made by students from various schools. The other category was based on robots designed by the college of E&ME and NUST. The theme of this year's competition was to control robots to net balls into goal posts of various heights. Winners of this year's competition in the following categories are:

Winner of NERC 2007 Shield with cash prize of Rs 50,000 was awarded to 'Undefined Reality' of the college of E&ME, NUST.

1st runner up NERC 2007 Shield with cash prize of Rs 30,000 was awarded to 'Tommy Gun' of the college of E&ME, NUST.

2nd Runner up NERC 2007 Shield with cash prize of Rs 25,000 was awarded to 'Earthquake' of the college of E&ME, NUST.

Best Mechanical Design Award with cash prize of Rs 20,000 was awarded to 'Lord Aragon' of the college of E&ME, NUST.

Best Artistic Design Award with cash prize of Rs 20,000 was awarded to 'Allah-O-Akbar' of the college of E&ME, NUST.

Winner NERC 2007 Lego Award with cash prize of Rs10,000 was awarded to 'Trebuchet' of HeadStart School, Islamabad.

Youngest Participant Award with cash prize of Rs 5,000 was awarded to 'Robo All Stars (Sheryar Ansari)' of HeadStart School, Islamabad.

Four Participation Awards (Less NUST students) with the cash prize of Rs 10,000 each was awarded to: 'Gladiator' of Wah Engineering College, 'Hang-Fire' of UET-Taxila', 'MEC Rover II' of UET-Peshawar and 'Deltabot' of Sir Syed UET, Karachi. Daily Times
