HEC launches funds programme
ISLAMABAD, Nov 07, 2007: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a
programme to provide funds to all government universities and degree-awarding
institutions of the country for the purchase of spare parts, repair, maintenance
and up-gradation of expensive scientific laboratory equipment lying
non-operational for want of repair or spare parts.
According to a HEC
statement on Tuesday, faculty members and scientists working in the laboratories
of the universities and institutes in different concerned disciplines have been
advised to send their demands on the prescribed form available on the HEC
website. The HEC has asked all the departments, institutes and centres of
excellence to submit more than one proposal.
Proposal for an individual
grant should range between Rs 60,000 and Rs 1 million and eligible faculty
members can apply any time throughout the year. The applicants have also been
directed to furnish separate request for equipment with quotations valid for up
to six months from three registered suppliers and firms. Daily Times
