IJT to observe Black Day today

Nov 07, 2007: Black Day would be observed in educational institutions today (Wednesday) as a protest against the imposition of emergency while countrywide campaigns would also be launched in this regard, the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), Pakistan, announced in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

The IJT Nazim Nasarullah Goraya said the decision was taken following imposition of emergency, increasing US interference in the country, attacks on the judiciary and torture of lawyers and people who protested against these wrongdoings.

The Black Day would be observed in all the educational instructions, he said and maintained that students wearing black armbands would march against the state of emergency in the country.

Goraya also said a protest day would be observed on Friday and protest demonstrations would be staged outside mosques after the Friday prayers against the government in this connection.

IJT Karachi
The Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT), Karachi chapter, has announced the launch of a movement against the imposition emergency in the country and will observe a black day in all educational institutions of the city on Wednesday, November 7 (today). This was resolved at an emergent meeting of the IJT city's shoora held with its Nazim Syed Abdul Rashid on Tuesday. After reviewing the prevalent situation, the meeting decided to start a student's movement against the imposition of emergency. It felt that putting curbs on the judiciary and media will make the country more vulnerable. Students at all educational institutions will observe a black day by wearing black armbands on Wednesday. Moreover, protest demonstrations will be staged outside mosques after Friday prayers. The News
