SPLA to observe black day
KARACHI, Nov 01, 2007: The Sindh Professors and
Lecturers' Association (SPLA) has announced to observe a black day on Friday,
Nov 2 against the ransacking of office of the Directorate Colleges Karachi and
missing of important departmental files.
More than 3,000 teachers of 118 city
colleges would wear black armbands on the black day. This decision was made
in SPLA Karachi region meeting held on Wednesday under the chair of Prof. Athar
Hussain Mirza. SPLA leaders Prof. Syed Riaz Ehsan and Prof. Manzoor Hussain
Chisti also attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the
important departmental files of more than 3,000 teachers and 2,000 non-teaching
staff, besides the record of retired teachers were missed after some miscreants
attacked and ransacked the office.
The important files of planning and
development having details of college buildings, posts, teachers' files
pertaining to holidays, medical bills, Hajj and Umra, promotions and payment of
dues were also missing.
The meeting criticized Sindh Education and Literacy
Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro and Secretary Education Sabhago Khan Jatoi for playing
the role of spectators over attack on field office.
The meeting demanded the
Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the issue and initiate
action against terrorists. PPI
