Punjab University's BCom exams 2008
BCom suppl exam from Dec 24
| Lahore, Nov 19: The Punjab University's BCom, Part-I, 2nd Annual
Examination 2008, will commence from Dec 24 while BCom, Part-II, 2nd Annual
Examination 2008, will start from Dec 26, 2008. According to a press release
issued on Tuesday, the PU Examination Department issued a notification in this
regard while detailed date sheets of the exams would be issued later. |

PU registrar's comments on dy treasure's appointment sought
Lahore: The Lahore High Court has sought a report and para wise comments
within two weeks from registrar of the Punjab University on a petition
challenging the selection of deputy treasurer (Audit) in Institute of Education
and Research.
Assistant Treasurer (Audit) Ghulam Abbas Lodhi through his
counsel, Advocate Manzoor Hussain challenged the selection of Bootey Khan as
deputy registrar (Audit).
The counsel pleaded that the petitioner having
15 years experience in his field fulfilled the basic criteria laid down by the
university in this regard. The petitioner acquired higher qualification, MA
(Islamic Studies) in 1st division, MBA (Management) from a university of Ireland
and had successfully completed the requisite course in financial management at
Punjab Audit & Accounts Training Institute.
He said his opponent did
not fulfil the requisite qualification and the experience in terms of the
criteria approved by the PU Syndicate and thus was ineligible to hold the said
post.
He said he had pointed out this deficiency during the election
process. The counsel further argued that the selection was to be made by the
Selection Board constituted under the statutes of the university whereas the
matter was placed before the Special Selection Committee and thus the
authorities of the university violated the eligibility criteria framed by them.
He said that it was obligatory for PU VC, being the principal executive
of the university, to ensure that the relevant rules were honestly observed and
emergency powers under section 15(3) of University of Punjab Act-1973 should not
had been exercised in the manner they were, as the post must be filled in
accordance with law. The News
