Thursday (today). These classes were closed on Oct 28. A meeting
of the commission, chaired by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, was

Schools demand for security turned down
Lahore: Justice Mian Saqib Nisar of the LHC dismissed a petition of
private schools' owners who wanted the government to provide security to their
students. The judge remarked that the private schools should adopt
security measures on their own because they were charging hefty fees from
students. Justice Saqib further observed that the people should not
leave the whole responsibility on the government but play their due role in
society. The judge also said that in future such petitions would be
dealt strictly and a fine could be imposed on petitioners. Private
Schools Owners Associations chairman Adeeb Jawedani had filed the petition
representing at least 65,000 schools of the country. His counsel argued
that earlier the government had closed down the schools for an indefinite period
on account of security threats. Later, only those schools were allowed to open
who had security arrangements as per the government's instructions. He
pointed out that the government had asked the schools to build a boundary wall
of at least eight feet and install barbed wires on walls besides walkthrough
gates. Dawn
