SALU VC worried over new KU, SU campuses
Khairpur: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) vice chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah has requested the chief minister to stop Karachi and Sindh universities from opening campuses in nearby districts.

According to a press release issued by university on Tuesday, the vice chancellor said that the Khairpur campus of SALU catered to the academic needs of upper Sindh.

She said that a letter was sent in August to the chief minister requesting that the Larkana Campus and Begum Nusrat Bhutto Campus Sukkur may be given under administrative control of SALU since they came under its jurisdiction. She said for the past 26 years, all degree colleges in Sukkur and Larkana regions had been affiliated with SALU.

SALU, Khairpur caters the academic needs of the upper Sindh region. It is worth noted that since last 26 years, all degree colleges of Government of Sindh in Sukkur & Larkana region are affiliated with SALU.

She said that even colleges in the Naushahro Feroze district were affiliated with SALU and were operating under its ambit. She said that if the planned campuses opened up in Naushahro Feroze then SALU would face administrative and financial hardships from losing affiliation and regular examination fees.

Prof Shah said that exam fees of regular and private students were the main sources of SALU's revenue and losing them could also affect the quality of education imparted by the university. Dawn
