GCU appoints new registrar
LAHORE, Oct 19: Sahibzada Faisal Khurshid has
been appointed as registrar of the Government College University (GCU) Lahore on
contract for three years.
According to a press release issued by the GCU
on Thursday, the Education Department had appointed Khurshid as registrar of the
GCU. Khurshid is currently serving as an assistant professor of the English
language and literature at the GCU. The former registrar of the GCU, Prof Zaheer
Ahmed Saddiqui, has taken retirement. Siddiqui was professor of the Persian
language and literature and has authored more than 20 books.
Siddiqui
won the Best Persian Poet Award in 2007 at a contest held in Mashad, Iran. The
contest was participated by poets from around the world.
GCU vice
chancellor Prof Khalid Aftab has commended services rendered by Siddiqui. He
said Siddiqui was both a good administrator and a man of letters. Daily Times
