Headstart students win trophy in robotics contest
Islamabad, Oct 31: The annual National Engineering Robotics Contest 2007, organised by
National University of Science and Technology and the Higher Education
Commission, held at the EME College, Rawalpindi, says a press
release.
The 60 teams from engineering colleges and universities all over
the country competed for the coveted trophy. Headstart was the only high school
team.
The Headstart fielded two teams from the boys' branch. The teams
were: The Trebuchet - led by Shamoon Tariq Qureshi and assisted by M. Amin
Jaffer, Adil Aslam, Asad Alvi, Imam ud din Saqib and second team: Robo All
Stars- led by M. Shaheer, and assisted by Shehryar, Akbar Ansari, Shayan
Tanvir.
Both teams put in tremendous efforts to prepare their robots for
the competition. Robo All Stars put up a magnificent show were unlucky to be
eliminated in the initial round. The Trebuchet - led by Shamoon Tariq Qureshi
qualified for the finals.
The final was a cliffhanger - the Headstart
team beat the UET, Peshawar to win the first prize. Apart from the winners
trophy Shehryar Akbar Ansari bagged the award for the youngest participant of
the tournament. The News
