1,000 ISO students to attend moot
KARACHI, Oct 26: The 37th annual
convention of Imamia Students Organisation Pakistan (ISO) commences from today
(Oct 26) to Oct 28 at Jamiatul Muntazar, Lahore. Students from all over the
country and religious scholars, political leaders and experts and delegations
from all over the world will participate.

Abidi said that more than 1,000 students from Karachi and more than 20,000
students from the Punjab, the rest of Sindh, the NWFP, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir
and the Northern Areas will participate. Every day from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.
study circles and group discussions will take place along with seminars and
conferences. From Saturday the Wahdat Muslimeen Convention will be held with
scholars from Pakistan, Iran, the UAE, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Britain, the
US, France and India. On Sunday, a general meeting will be held to announce the
newly elected ISO president who will also take oath.
At the end of the
convention, a Wahdat Muslimeen rally will be organised. The ISOP's ex-president
Rizwan Kazmi said at times Shia youth were active in different
colleges and universities in different student organizationsn such as the Imamia
Students Federation (ISF), Shia Students Federation (SSF), Jamiat Tuleba Asna
Ashri (JTAA) and Shia Students Association (SSA), but there was no central
organisation for them. On May 22, 1972, a countrywide convention was held for
them and it was decided that a central Shia students organisation would be
