Schools reopened in Karachi
Karachi, Oct 23: All educational institutions reopened on Monday after being
closed for four days. The schools were closed officially on Thursday as the
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairperson and former Prime Minister landed in
Karachi on October 18 after eight years of self-exile.
On the same night,
two bomb blasts occurred leaving more than 140 dead and hundreds injured,
following which a three-day mourning period was announced by the party. This
left the authorities with no choice but to announce a holiday on Friday as
well.
It must be recalled that schools opened on Wednesday after a
week-long holiday owing to Eid, but had to close down due to the welcome rally.
Most of the schools in the city were closed as early as Ramazan 21, thus
with more than a 15-day holiday which affected the academic session.
Surprisingly, schools which gave a two-week holiday to the students,
owing to their religious obligations, also saddled the students with homework
because of which they were forced to spend their holidays completing their
assignments.
Officially, the educational institutions were given a
four-day holidays starting from October 13 ending October 16. The News
