O level exams to be held on schedule
Karachi, Oct 17: The O Level examination, conducted by the British Council, will
be held as per schedule on Thursday - the day when twice elected former Prime
Minister and PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto returns home. The main venue for the
examination is Hotel Regent Plaza located on the main Sharea Faisal and all
security arrangements were made, Director Examination Sindh and Balochistan,
Asim Saeed Khan said.
About 1,200 students appearing in the
Statistics paper, Asim said, adding that the exams will start at 9am and will
conclude at 11.30am - the time of the arrival of Benazir and hopefully it would
not disturb the functioning of the exams.
He said that the O level exams
were held internationally, and could not be cancelled or postponed. However, he
said that the board will be informed about this situation which would then
surely compensate the genuine students, who were directly and genuinely affected
by the PPP's rally, he said.
He also informed that the Inspector,
Cambridge International Exam, Remond John, was here in the city to personally
monitor the exams that are being conducted on the eve of PPP chairperson Benazir
Bhutto's arrival on October 18. He further said that letters to DG Rangers and
DIG Falak Khursheed regarding security and traffic arrangements and had given
complete assurance in this regard.
He, however, stressed that only those
candidates would be entertained who will be directly affected by Benazir's
arrival. Elaborating on the method of compensation, he said the candidate would
be judged according to his past rating in the subject. He said that the case
would be sent to the Cambridge Board who would consider the case as it did in
the past.
Meanwhile, the Indus Valley School of Arts has postponed its
interview test for Thursday and it will now be held on Saturday, as the school
was situated near Bilawal House, a spokesperson said. The News
