O level exams to be held on schedule

Karachi, Oct 17: The O Level examination, conducted by the British Council, will be held as per schedule on Thursday - the day when twice elected former Prime Minister and PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto returns home. The main venue for the examination is Hotel Regent Plaza located on the main Sharea Faisal and all security arrangements were made, Director Examination Sindh and Balochistan, Asim Saeed Khan said.

About 1,200 students appearing in the Statistics paper, Asim said, adding that the exams will start at 9am and will conclude at 11.30am - the time of the arrival of Benazir and hopefully it would not disturb the functioning of the exams.

He said that the O level exams were held internationally, and could not be cancelled or postponed. However, he said that the board will be informed about this situation which would then surely compensate the genuine students, who were directly and genuinely affected by the PPP's rally, he said.

He also informed that the Inspector, Cambridge International Exam, Remond John, was here in the city to personally monitor the exams that are being conducted on the eve of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto's arrival on October 18. He further said that letters to DG Rangers and DIG Falak Khursheed regarding security and traffic arrangements and had given complete assurance in this regard.

He, however, stressed that only those candidates would be entertained who will be directly affected by Benazir's arrival. Elaborating on the method of compensation, he said the candidate would be judged according to his past rating in the subject. He said that the case would be sent to the Cambridge Board who would consider the case as it did in the past.

Meanwhile, the Indus Valley School of Arts has postponed its interview test for Thursday and it will now be held on Saturday, as the school was situated near Bilawal House, a spokesperson said. The News
