Convocation ceremony at PMA held
Rawalpindi, Oct 22: Convocation Ceremony of 116th PMA Long Course
was held at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul on Saturday. Lieutenant
General Waseem Ahmed Ashraf, Corps Commander Gujranwala was the chief guest on
the occasion. Addressing the graduating cadets, Lieutenant General Waseem Ahmad
Ashraf said that today's Militaries have to develop the realization that
modern-day defence capability demands a comprehensive understanding of the
equipment and a keen understanding of developing technology, strategic concepts
and global geo-political realities. In such a challenging and ever-changing
world, it is binding to keep oneself abreast of the latest advancements.
It is
your academic excellence, better professional knowledge and above all the
strength of character, which will be the worthiest in your arsenal and will help
you win trust as leaders. He said that our national security is confronted with
many dangers. In order to face these odds, we need to have the best trained and
best equipped troops, led by officers who are daring and patriotic. He further
added that our future is safe and secure with the addition of such young
military leaders like you. So, rise as men of knowledge and valour, to safeguard
the ideological and physical boundaries of our motherland and prevent the
nefarious designs of its enemies.
In his address Major General Zahid Hussain
Khan, Commandant Pakistan Military Academy said that today's convocation
ceremony bears testimony to the fact that we fully comprehend the significance
of education and its role in national development. He said that with the
acquired sound academic base, cadets would be able to develop and polish their
talents in times to come and contribute towards nation building. Later,
Lieutenant General Waseem Ahmed Ashraf gave away degrees and medals to
graduating cadets. Chief of Army Staff Gold Medal, Science Medal and Tactics
Gold Medal went to Academy Senior Under Officer Muhammad Ahmad. Humanities Gold
Medal went to Gentleman Cadet Sami Ullah Farooq, whereas, Academics Gold Medal
for Allied Gentleman Cadets was given to Sergeant Abdullah Shareef from
Maldives. Academy Sergeant Major Talal received Shooting Gold Medal, whereas,
Physical Efficiency Gold Medal went to Battalion Senior Under Officer Hassan.
In
Ladies Integrated Course-2, Company Under Officer, Mahwash Manzoor and Lady
Cadet Sara Alvi won Shooting and Physical Efficiency Medals respectively. Babar
Company was given Professional Efficiency Trophy for attaining first position in
training while Hamza Company won the Commandant's Trophy. The ceremony was
attended by a large number of serving and retired Armed Forces Officers, parents
and relatives. F.P
