Punjab university issued roll number slips for BA/BSc exam
Lahore, Oct 2: Punjab University (PU) has issued roll number slips to the
candidates of BA/BSc Supplementary Examination, 2009, commencing from
October 6. In a press statement, PU Controller Examinations Dr Zahid
Karim Khan has advised the candidates who still did not get their roll
number slips to contact Examinations Department, New Campus, as soon as

Welcome party organized at PU
Lahore: Punjab University organised a grand welcome party for the new students of BA/BSc
and MA/MSc in the Faisal Auditorium here at the New Campus on Thursday. A large
number of students attended the ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran
welcomed the students. While addressing to the students he advised them not to
waste their time and focus only on their studies considering it their moral and
national obligation. He said that the new students would find random views
therefore they must respect others' views as contrast in opinion and point of
view was a usual thing. He said all students should be cooperative, helpful
and respective to on another regardless of their religion, colour, creed and
cast. The vice-chancellor said he sees that very intelligent students got
admission in PU this year as he himself noticed this fact while teaching his
Physics class. Dr Mujahid said PU had been polishing skills of students in
curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and that's the reason
PU students earned fame at Model United Nations conferences in Netherlands and
Germany last year after competing with the students of US varsities and Howard

LHC disposed of a contempt of court proceeding against PITB
Lahore: Justice Mian Saqib Nisar of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday
disposed of a contempt of court proceeding against Punjab Information
Technology Board (PITB) for not giving scholarship to 300 students. Earlier,
the LHC chief justice took a suo motu notice on a letter written by a
student Usman Khalid, converting the letter into contempt petition.
Afterwards, the case was referred to Justice Saqib Nisar. The
student complained that a single bench of the LHC on a petition of a
student namely Saqib had passed an order in favour of 300 students but
the PITB chairman was denying them the scholarship despite having
sufficient funds. On Thursday, disposing of the contempt
proceedings Justice Nisar observed that Usman Khalid was not an
aggrieved to the non-compliance of the court order. The news
