Punjab university issued date sheet of MPhil Dentistry part-II
Lahore, Oct 3: Punjab University (PU) Examination Department has issued the written
date sheet of MPhil Dentistry, Part-II (Four-Year Scheme), Annual
Examination 2008. The exam will commence from October 5 and will
conclude on October 8, 20009. Detailed date sheet is available on PU
website www.pu.edu.pk.

PU grid station
Lahore: The Punjab University (PU) and Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to install a grid
station at the Punjab University. For this purpose, the PU will grant
land to LESCO for establishing a grid station to cater for load demand
of the PU in particular and surrounding areas in general. The grid
station will ensure stable power supply to the areas besides improving
voltage and ensuring future load demand of the university and
surrounding areas. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and LESCO
Chief Executive Office Akram Arain signed the documents of MoU. Under
the MoU, LESCO will establish the grid station within 6 to 8 months. In
return of land offered, the PU will construct another grid station at
PU Employees Housing Society and both the sides will benefit from this
MoU.

Punjab government focusing on education, health sectors
Lahore: Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that all the government
policies are aimed at welfare of the poor and billions of rupees are
being spent on the projects for their betterment. He said a strategy
had been adopted for elimination of poverty, ignorance and unemployment
and provision of basic facilities to the masses. Talking to
British MP Lord Nazir Ahmad here on Friday, the CM said a favourable
atmosphere had been created for the promotion of foreign investment. He
said that process of industrialisation had been accelerated and job
opportunities were being created by promoting trade and economic
activities in the province. Mr Shahbaz said the government was
concentrating on promotion of quality education and provision of modern
health facilities to the people. He said the Punjab Educational
Endowment Fund had been set up for the assistance to the poor but
talented students while the project of the Danish Schools had been
initiated for the provision of modern academic facilities to students
of the backward areas. He said the Danish Schools would not
only equip the new generation with modern knowledge but also prove to
be a milestone in promoting quality education. He said the project for
provision of 60,000 computers to more than 4,000 schools of the
province would soon be completed. The chief minister said huge
resources were being utilised for the uplift of the health sector and
provision of modern health facilities to people. He said
air-conditioners had been installed in all the hospitals of the
province while free medicines were being provided to patients. He said
rural and basic health centres were being upgraded and availability of
doctors, paramedics, medicines and modern medical equipment was being
ensured. The CM said a number of projects of infrastructure
development were being completed expeditiously while besides improving
the existing roads, new roads were also being constructed. He said the
largest subsidy of eight billion rupees was given in order to provide
flour, sugar and other essential items to the poor at cheaper rates
during Ramazan. Meanwhile, US Consulate Principal Officer Carmela
Conroy called on Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Friday. Various
matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting. Former
Principal Officer of American Consulate Bryan D Hunt was also present. The news
