APMSO activists booked over IJT complaint
KARACHI, Sept 22, 2007: Police on Friday registered an FIR against four members
of the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) on the complaint of
the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT).
In the FIR, the complainant (IJT) alleged
that three of its members were abducted and tortured by the APMSO activists from
Government Monotechnic College in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Thursday.
A duty
officer at the Sharea Faisal police station confirmed that an FIR 611/2007 under
sections 342, 427 and 506 of the PPC had been registered against four APMSO
members Farhan, Ali Mehdi, Ahmed Ali Beg and Nasir Khan.
On Thursday, the
IJT alleged that activists of the APMSO kidnapped three of its workers, Munib,
Bilawal Bhatti and Abdul Hafeez, and tortured them severely before releasing
them.
However, the APMSO rejecting the allegations termed it a part of
the IJT's ongoing blame-game.
An IJT spokesman accused the police of
'taking sides and inaction' when they had been approached by the IJT to seek
action against the suspects. Dawn
