150 students hospitalised in Abbottabad
ABBOTTABAD, Sept 30: As many as 150 students of Abbottabad Public School and College
(APS) were hospitalised after eating poisonous food at the boarding mess.
Sources at the Shahina Jamil Trust Hospital said around 70 students were brought
to the hospital after eating poisonous food.
According to the APS
sources, students from Class VII to Class XII complained about abdominal pain
and started vomiting after having their dinner. They were shifted to nearby
Shahina Jamil Trust Hospital and other local hospitals for treatment.
The APS administration tried to keep the news of food poisoning secret,
but the Geo TV channel telecast the news and worried parents from all parts of
Pakistan tried to contact the hospitals to enquire about the health of their
children.
A female medical officer at the Shahina Jamil Trust Hospital
said that all the students were suffering from food poisoning and
dehydration. Some students were running high fever due to acute intestinal
infection, she added. The News
