UK and HEC Education Link programme
British Council's CE visits Pakistan
Sep 14: The chief executive of the British Council, Martin Davidson, arrived on
Wednesday here in Karachi, with regard to the collaboration for education
between UK and Pakistan.
Davidson visited the British High Commission
and met with the deputy head of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and
university link coordinators. The latter are part of a three-year Higher
Education Link programme funded by the HEC and managed by the British Council.
The purpose of this partnership is to enhance the research and training capacity
of the Higher Education institutions in Pakistan, establishing linkages between
Pakistani and UK universities. This will also include faculty exchange visits,
joint course and curriculum development, faculty development and research
initiatives for education reform.
According to Davidson, the focus of
British Council's work is to provide educational opportunities, meet demands for
professional and personal development and promote positive social change. The News
