Punjab English teachers to move court
JHANG, Sept 11: English language teachers, who feel ignored in the
package of incentives announced by the chief minister, have decided to go to a
court of law to seek justice.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the
Punjab English Teachers Association said the package not only ignored English
teachers but also degraded them.
The teachers said they were left with no
choice except to seek justice. They said they had not been given their due
rights for the last 12 years without a decision by courts of law.
They
said a regularisation committee had been formed after a ruling of the Supreme
Court which had recommended promotion of English teachers from BPS-14 to BPS-16.
English teachers had also been transferred to middle and high schools, adding
additional burden on them, he said. -APP
