IJT's anti-MQM campaign
KARACHI, Sept 19: The Islami Jamiat Talba
Pakistan (IJTP) has announced it will launch a countrywide campaign against the
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). This was decided in a meeting of the IJTP task
force in Lahore Tuesday presided over by secretary general Atiq-ur-Rehman,
stated a press release issued from Lahore.
According to the press
release, anti-MQM pamphlets and handbills would be distributed and video
documentaries would be shown all over Pakistan. Then press conferences will be
held at all divisional headquarters of the IJTP on Sep 20 and rallies would take
place on Sept 25 in different cities.
Rehman said at the meeting that the
MQM was involved in the May12 mayhem and in IJTP activist killings. The IJTP
would continue with protests until the murderers were arrested. IJTP nazims and
secretaries from Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Azad Kashmir
attended.
MQM activist shot dead: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi
Movement was shot dead on Tuesday night by unidentified assailants near his
house in New Karachi, according to police.
Gulfam, 35, was rushed to
Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. New Karachi Supervisory Police Officer (SPO) DSP Asghar
Usman said he was sitting at a barber's shop in Sector 5/E within the precincts
of Bilal Colony police station when two men on a motorcycle shot at him and
left. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report. Daily Times
