IJT demands arrests
KARACHI, Sept 17: The Islami Jamiat Tulaba
(IJT) organized demonstrations in different parts of the city to protest the
deaths of three of its activists who were shot dead September 13, along with
four other people, while on a minibus on route G7.
Addressing the protest
demonstrations, leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and
IJT claimed that the peaceful environment of academic institutions was being
sabotaged as part of a plot that Gen. Pervez Musharraf was party to.
He
has given the killers a free hand, they claimed. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain's
statements, which were immediately issued from London after the incident, are
evidence of the fact that the terrorist incidents have all been planned, they
claimed. They held the MQM and the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation
(APMSO) responsible for the bloodshed in the city.
They demanded the
police take action against the killers, register FIRs against them and arrest
them without delay.
Demonstrations took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Landhi,
North Nazimabad, Orangi Town, Shah Faisal Colony, Mehmoodabad, North Karachi,
Gulberg Town and Shadman Town, after Zuhr prayers. Meanwhile, the IJT spokesman
said that the Quran Khwani would be held September 17 in all departments of the
University of Karachi. Daily Times
