Over 4,500 take test for LUHMS admission
HYDERABAD, Sept 24: Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro,
here on Sunday conducted pre-entry test of the candidates who applied for
admissions to MBBS and BDS courses for the year 2007-08.
The test was
conducted by National Testing Services at Wapda ground, Niaz Stadium, where
special sitting arrangements were made for the candidates.
Speaking on
the occasion, vice-chancellor LUMHS, Prof Naushad Ahmed Shaikh made it clear
that admissions would be granted purely on merit basis and completely ruled out
possibility injustice with any candidate.
He further said that not a
single seat would be increased for admission.
He advised the parents not
to fall prey to the agents as no pressure or recommendation for admission would
be accepted by the university administration.
Around 4,600 candidates
have deposited their forms for admission but according to the university
authorities, 4575 candidates appeared in the test. In MBBS, 326 seats would be
filled on the basis of merit, 50 seats on self-finance basis and four reserved
for overseas Pakistanis.
In BDS, 29 candidates would be granted admission
on merit and 23 on self-finance basis.
The results will be announced by
the NTS on Monday on its website, www.nts.org.pk. Dawn
