Lal Masjid re-opening: Jamia Fareedia students to move SC
ISLAMABAD, Sep 8: Students of the Jamia Fareedia madrassa on Friday
announced that they would move the Supreme Court (SC) for the re-opening of Lal
Masjid with which the madrassa is affiliated.
Lal Masjid has been closed
for prayers for over two months.
Talking to reporters after the Friday
prayer outside the mosque, Jamia Fareedia student Maqsud Ahmed said the students
would soon submit a petition to the SC, pleading early re-opening of the Lal
Masjid. He accused the security forces of killing hundreds of innocent people
inside the mosque and the adjacent Jamia Hafsa. He demanded the government
release those arrested during the operation including former Lal Masjid prayer
leader Maulana Abdul Aziz. Daily times
