Country's first MRCGP exams on Nov 30
LAHORE, Sep 6: The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), UK,
will hold its first examinations for the Membership of the Royal College of
General Practitioners (MRCGP) (International) in Pakistan for primary care
physicians at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, on November
30.
The RCGP has made an agreement with the UHS to develop a cohort of
trainers and teachers in general practice and family medicine to assist
Pakistanis in taking MRCGP (international) examination for family
physicians.
The scrutiny committee's meeting was held here at the UHS 2
on Wednesday for candidates of the MRCGP. The committee selected 65 candidates
to appear in the MRCGP Part-I examination. Pakistan Association of Family
Physicians (PAFT) president Dr Aftab Iqbal said that it would be the only
training programme for more than 100,000 practicing doctors of the
country.
The RCGP has developed the MRCGP (International) programme for
the overseas candidates and to meet the worldwide needs for developing high
quality postgraduate assessment programme. The programme enables a country or
region to develop an examination system at the same level and academic rigour as
that of the MRCGP in the UK, with specific needs of the country or region. When
the necessary criteria have been met, the examination is accredited by the
college and successful candidates are awarded MRCGTP
(International).
