PU VC meets Shia students
LAHORE, Sep 4: Punjab University vice-chancellor (VC) Arshad Mehmood
said, "To provide students with a healthy academic atmosphere on the campus law
and order would be maintained at any cost." He was presiding over a meeting held
at his office on the New Campus on Monday. He said no one would be allowed to
violate the university rules. He said students of all sects were allowed to pray
in the hostels prayer rooms. He said violation of university rules in the name
of religion would not be tolerated. He said, "The university believes in
religious, lingual and sectarian harmony amongst students and staff."
the
registrar, the hall council chairman and deputy chairman, the students' adviser,
the resident officer-I, hostel-17 warden and representatives of Shia students
attended the meeting. The representatives of Shia students assured the VC that
they would cooperate in maintaining peaceful atmosphere on the campus. Daily times
