Syndicate members, PUTA hail appointment of new VC
PESHAWAR, Sep 8: Elected members of the syndicate and the teaching
community of Peshawar University have welcomed the decision of the Chancellor
for appointing Prof Dr. Javed Khan as acting Vice- Chancellor of the University
of Peshawar. According to the press release issued here on Friday, President
Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA), Prof. Dr. Shafiqur Rehman has
said that the Chancellor's decision gave a clear and loud message that there is
zero tolerance for abuse of administrative discretion and public authority for
the promotion of vested interests. He said that the entire teaching community
and the syndicate members fought for upholding the rule of law and tried their
best to prevent the misuse of official authority of the outgoing Vice Chancellor
for which they were victimized, humiliated and insulted. "At times we were
frustrated to the extent of losing complete faith in the outcome of our
struggle, but today we stand vindicated and the community's trust in the rule of
law and transparent governance of our alma mater also stand restored", he added.
President PUTA said that silver lining on the cloud is visible now adding that
the teaching community stands by the decision of the Honorable Chancellor and
has complete trust in the ability , competence and character of the new Vice-
Chancellor.
The teaching community and the elected members of the syndicate are
sure that his appointment would put the University of Peshawar on the path of
achieving academic excellence and would positively contribute to the development
of the society by providing quality education to the future of our province and
the country, he told. He said that the Chancellor's well-thought and swift
action shows that the interest of the University is closer to his heart and this
makes him nearer to our hearts. " As president of PUTA, I assure the Chancellor
of our full cooperation in turning this university into a world class academic
institution under the leadership of our new Vice- Chancellor, Professor Doctor
