'B Form' condition irks students and parents

SIALKOT, Sept 9: The Education Department has made it compulsory for students seeking admission to Class-VI and Class-IX in government schools to enclose their computerised B Forms along with other testimonials, and this condition has created a panic and unrest among students and their parents. The people have demanded immediate withdrawal of the condition imposed by the Education Department as they have to stand in long queues outside Nadra's swift registrations centres (NSRC) to get such a form enabling their children to get admission to higher classes. They have also decried the indifference of Education as well as Nadra high-ups and urged federal as well provincial governments to intervene and save a large number of people from unnecessary panic.

NSRCs are already overburdened due to a lack of staff and equipment, and are hardly catering to a large number of aspirants from Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur, Sambrial and surrounding areas to get computerised national identity cards (CNICs) who visit such centres in routine. The Education Department's recent condition for the provision of B Forms has not only panicked students and their parents, but has also added troubles to the Nadra staffers deputed at these centres.

Due to a lack of coordination between Education Department and Nadra high-ups, the database registration authority failed to make additional arrangements for issuance of computerised B Forms in advance, causing huge inconvenience to the public as well as its own staff.

The existing NSRCs are unable to cope with a large number of B Forms applicants particularly when there is no dearth of routine aspirants of CNICs queuing up outside the centres in this hot and humid weather daily. A few days ago, three women including two girl students fainted while being queued up for B Forms outside a NSRC in Daska.

The parents have also urged the Nadra high-ups to make proper arrangements to entertain B Forms applications.

When contacted, the Sialkot-based officials of the Education Department as well as Nadra refused to comment. Dawn
