VCs told to ensure peace on campuses: Governor concerned over law, order situation
PESHAWAR, Sept 4: NWFP Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai has expressed
concern over the poor law and order situation on university campuses.
At
a meeting with vice-chancellors of Peshawar, Hazara and Malakand universities
here on Monday, the governor directed the officials concerned to take measures
for improving the law and order on campuses, said a press release.
The
meeting, also attended by the secretary, higher education, and director,
institute of management sciences, discussed various issues relating to the
public sector universities.
Taking notice of the recent incidents of
crime in the Peshawar University, the governor directed the university
administration to ensure peace for uninterrupted academic activities.
The
Hazara University vice-chancellor informed the governor about the recently held
entrance test for selection of suitable candidates from remote areas of the NWFP
and Fata for admission under the Free Quality Education Project for poor but
talented students of backward areas.
He said a total of 1,445 candidates
appeared in the test and the selection process was under way. Dawn
