HYDERABAD, Sep 7: Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza has urged the student body and faculty to play their role in developing research culture in the universities.

He said this while addressing the inauguration session of the 2nd International Seminar on Analytical Sciences organised by the National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, on Thursday at a local hotel. The three-day seminar is being attended by scholars from Greece, Iran, South Africa, India and Pakistan.

Dr Qasim appreciated the projects and research activities being undertaken at the centre. He said interaction between local and international scholars is possible through such seminars and conferences. University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who presided over the inaugural session, said the centre has played a pivotal role in the fields of biomedical applications, environmental monitoring, quality control and industrial sciences.

Chemical Society of Pakistan Secretary-General Dr Khalid Hussain said nations progress in the world through knowledge. The director of the centre, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Bhanger, welcomed the guests and threw light on the importance of analytical chemistry. The news
